The most charming and welcoming country dining pub. Set on the edge of The Cotswolds in beautiful Barford St Michael, with nine individually decorated and luxurious bedrooms. Your warm welcome awaits.
The George’s story began in 2016 when Laura and Louis Holtzhausen bought and restored a 16th Century thatched inn, in their neighbouring village of Barford St Michael after one too many the night before...
..Together, however, they brought it back to life...
....Their vision was to create a pub with a home for home environment for locals to come together and have a great time. They lovingly restored The George with the upmost respect, whilst going bold with the interior design with their innate eye for detail and distinctive flair.
In the process, they have created ‘The George’ we see today, in all its glory.
The George has now become a place our guests seek to escape and relax. Our unpretentious surroundings offer the understated luxury and little touches that rival any five star hotel, whilst we also proudly manage to retain the welcoming charm as The Village Pub.
The George's kitchen actively sources the very best produce, and will always 'go-local' if the quality is superior – they have the fortune of many incredible and forward thinking local producers and small businesses on their doorstep to explore and work alongside.
The team are all individually creative and genuinely enjoy being nice. They understand that these two attributes make being 'A Team' very easy indeed. It shows consistently on a daily basis.
Their focus is simple. Create delicious plates of food, pour the very best drinks and serve it all with care and a genuine smile.
